‘Avatar’ re-release made $6 million in opening weekend at IMAX box office

Success AvatarThe theatrical re-release is hardly surprising given the amount of accolades and general criticism the film has received since its original release. This included nine Academy Award nominations and three giant wins for Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. However, its real stamp of approval from the public was shown when it was revealed that the film had grossed a record $2.8 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time.

AvatarThe return to the movie screens creates a powerful buzz in anticipation of the continuation of the film. Avatar: Path of Water. The highly anticipated sequel is set more than ten years after the first film and is expected to follow Jake through his new life and family on the planet Pandora. But his blissful life turns into chaos when a “familiar threat” returns, threatening the harmony of the planet and his newly formed family. Jake and Neytiri work together, joining forces with the Na’vi army to protect the planet. Besides Worthington and Saldana, viewers can also expect to see Kate Winslet, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, Michelle Yeoh as well as Sigourney Weaver appear on the silver screen. The sequel marks a new era for Avatar Universe, and three more titles are currently in development. Of course, there is something to look forward to.
