Starring Diego Luna as a conflict insurgent first seen in Rogue One, Andor now streaming on Disney Plus. Espionage-heavy star Wars the limited series has received positive reviews from fans and critics so far. The Dark Mercenary of the Moon bears an undeniable resemblance to a character still revered in many corners of the fandom: stormtrooper turned Jedi Master Kyle Katarn.

It first became popular with fans thanks to the 1995 FPS. Dark forces and other related media (his appearance is later based on the actor Jason Court from continuation Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2), the good-looking badass Katarn (and partner Jan Ors, who is often compared to Felicity JonesJyn Erso, due to apparent resemblance) is the original mastermind behind the Death Star’s plans until the new era of Lucasfilm largely revised or abandoned the Expanded Universe, now “Legends”. Although Katarn’s story has been assimilated to other properties and characters, most notably Cassian Andor and Finn (John Boyega), there is no replacement. Even if some changes are made to make it coexist with new lore additions, Katarn is so popular, so loved for a good reason, it’s time to re-enable it.

COLLIDER VIDEO OF THE DAY

Kyle Katarn is a rogue worthy of Han Solo, as if Han were a Jedi.

An Imperial Academy graduate who defected after a family tragedy and remorse, Kyle’s character bears a passing resemblance to Harrison Fordimmortalized pop culture protagonist Han Solo. Both are cynical, jaded, strong and always ready to do the right thing with varying degrees of reluctance.

While Khan sometimes pets people incorrectly or gets distracted out of sheer selfishness or pride, Katarn does struggle with the dark side of the Force.

Kyle’s story deals with mature themes like grief, finding your own moral compass, and letting go.

Even before Dark forces and, as stated in the series of novels by William K. Deitz and Dean Williams, Kyle’s story begins at the Imperial Academy. His father Morgan opposes the Empire, but he is a farmer with limited means and sends his son to study at the Academy.

For a secret plot against the Empire at the birth of the Rebel Alliance, Morgan is brutally murdered - in fact, beheaded. Once Kyle learns the truth about his father and the Empire, thanks in large part to Jan Ors, he changes trajectory. Along the way, Katarn struggles with grief and anger, finding her own path to the light, even in the face of temptation to leave a path that is “easier and more seductive,” as Yoda once said.

Kyle’s incredible Strength guarantees killer action scenes.

Once he learns of his Force-sensitivity and shortcomings from the Empire, as well as outside guidance from his father and the slain Jedi Master Ku Ran, Kyle becomes a force to be reckoned with, pardon the pun.

Kyle’s transition to the wild side - i.e. the Dark Side - gave him an unusual ability to wield dark powers, such as grip and, most importantly, lightning. Kyle’s unique belief system, developed during his journey into the Light, is that it’s less about abilities and more about how you use them. He also never completely renounces throwing weapons, in particular carrying his trusty Bryar pistol along with his saber. Imagine the spectacle of Katarn unfolding in live action. It would be unlike anything seen before.

Kyle’s friendship, which turned into romance with Jan Ors, is the best Star Wars romantic comedy since Han and Leia.

What was so lacking in star Wars lor for some time romance, or any kind of heat. Reilo teased for a while before completely wasting his powers. Rise of Skywalker. Pilot Yang calls out to Kyle’s higher self when he is at his lowest point, and the two constantly save each other from danger. Their professional relationship, filled with barbs and close conversations, gradually turns into a romantic one.

Yang is a terrific character in her own right: imperfect, but likable, funny. Very competent, but not a Mary Sue.

Katarn has a touching romance with none other than Luke Skywalker.

Along with his affection for Jen, who can’t live without her, and their close interaction with Mon Mothma, Kyle’s most trusted ally is none other than the farm boy from Tatooine. They even became members of the Jedi Academy.

Outcast Jedi is one of the best star Wars games ever, especially in terms of storytelling. The most dizzying moment is when the player manages to push a group of vicious Reborn warriors back to back with Skywalker.

Kyle’s introduction would be a great opportunity to see more of the Jedi Academy live.

Kyle’s quick but hard-earned rise from Imperial officer to Rebel agent to Guardian of the Light is unique in history. star Wars story. Honestly, this is what should have happened to Finn.

Once Kyle befriends Skywalker, the former stormtrooper will eventually mentor the apprentices along with Anakin’s offspring. The game Jedi Academy there was a taste of the potential for drama between students and teachers as they take on external threats.

Katarn is up against some really memorable villains that would be amazing in live action.

Kyle’s first and most notorious enemy is the blind, extremely powerful and calculating Dark Lord Jerec, who is responsible for the death of Kyle’s father. AT Jedi Knight, Kyle kills half a dozen Dark Jedi, including Jerec, the manic Twi’Lek Bok, and the steely evil Sariss. Kyle shows mercy to the conflicted young Yun, who ends up turning against the Dark Jedi to save Kyle.

AT Outcast JediKyle encounters the power-hungry, Force-sensitive lizard-man Desann and his protege Tavion. After Kyle bestows mercy on Tavion after a victorious duel, his apprentice Jayden later destroys her in Jedi Academy.

Valley of the Jedi would also be a live action spectacle.

Revisited everywhere Dark forces as well as Jedi Knight Media, The Valley of the Jedi is an ancient battlefield that holds the spirits of the dead Jedi and Sith, the connecting link of Force energy. In the games, Kyle frees the Jedi and thwarts Jerec’s plan to take over the Valley Force.

The Valley is a major threat that is a refreshing change of pace from the planet-destroying spherical space stations. Not only would the vast valley be a killer set piece, but the potential misuse of its Force energy is a valuable plot twist.

The more we learn about Kyle Katarn, and the more he grows, the more likeable he becomes.

Kyle Katarn has anger issues, many of which are related to his father’s death. What did Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 such a standout and memorable, enjoyable game was that the players had the option to lead Kyle down the path of darkness or light. The light ending was canon in the Expanded Universe.

Even after mastering the Force and becoming a Jedi, his path is not entirely linear. AT Outcast Jedi, he tiptoes to the dark side again when he is convinced that Yang is dead. The conflict makes Kyle more interesting and he always survives.

Kyle Katarn is the Chuck Norris of a galaxy far, far away. He is irreplaceable.

“Kyle Katarn once threw a thermal detonator that killed 50 stormtroopers. Then the thermal detonator exploded.”

“Baby Wookiees are not born. They are formed as a result of Kyle Katarn shaving off his beard.” These are just a small part of the Katarn memes that have made this one-of-a-kind character’s reputation last for nearly three decades. Kyle Katarn - a significant part star Wars history and fully deserves to be canon again.
