Rick and Morty Season six is almost here, which means that the grandfather-grandson duo has more crazy, absurd sci-fi adventures ahead of them. A lot has changed since last season, leaving many questions about the fate of the Rick and Morty universe. Rick and Morty (English)Justin Roiland) slowly drifted apart, and their relationship was tested like never before in the fifth season.
Morty now knows Moaning Rick’s backstory and the true meaning of his own existence after Evil Morty revealed the truth to him. To make matters worse, Evil Morty blew up the citadel and left Rick without his portal technology. Things have never been so terrible for Rick and Morty, and Season 6 is sure to plunge them into even more cosmic mayhem.
talking cat
Rick and Morty full of strange characters. In season 4, episode 4, Jerry discovers a talking cat (voiced by Matthew Broderick) in my bedroom. When Morty marries dragons and Rick wants nothing to do with Jerry and his stupid talking cat, Jerry is left alone with this mysterious talking cat.
The origin of the cat remains a mystery. Why is he talking? How did he find Jerry? Why he Indeed do you want to go to Florida? When Rick finally mentally scans the cat and discovers where he came from, unseen images shake Rick to the core. Not exactly an easy feat. With an origin story so disturbing that it makes Rick contemplate suicide, this talking cat is too interesting not to revisit for a later episode.
Interdimensional Cable III
Incredibly hilarious, impromptu episodes of Interdimensional Cable have been fan favorites since they first premiered. A collection of random, ridiculous scenarios from all over the galaxy turns into some kind of heartbreaking comedy.
Unfortunately, not wanting to be formulaic, Rick and Morty has not done any since season 2 and instead changes the concept with other humorous anthology episodes such as “Morty’s Mind Blowers”. With a three season hiatus, Season 6 will be a great moment for the return of the Interdimensional Cable without feeling like a well-worn gimmick.
Who is Mr Poopybutthole?
Oh wow! A longtime friend of the Smith family, Mr. Poopybuthole, has been through a lot throughout the series. He went from being a close family friend to starting a family of his own and even becoming a college professor. Only to lose it all after Rick hired Mr. Poopybuthole’s students to attack him so he can freely join his heist team.
Mr Poopybuthol was last in a dark place. In the final scene of the season 5 finale, Mr. Poopybuthole is all alone in a dilapidated apartment, yearning for his former life. It’s hard for such a cheerful character to see him in such a depressed state. I hope he can change his life next season.
Clone Beth
When Rick suggests cloning Beth so she can go into space, she asks Rick to make a decision. Rick is Rick, of course, he clones his daughter, but instead of finding out which one is real and which one is a clone, he turns away. Never knowing which one is his “real” daughter.
Now Beth is two years old, one is a loving housewife at home and the other is a badass space adventurer just like her father. “Cosmic Beth” only appeared once to confront her father and ended up on good terms with the rest of the family, freely exploring space without guilt. It would be nice to see what crazy space Beth is up to next season and maybe see another team with her and her clone doppelgänger.
Will Morty and Jessica ever get along?
Morty’s infatuation with a popular girl at school, Jessica (Kari Wahlgren) has been a staple of his character since the pilot. Classic, will they? Will not? Whenever Morty comes close to finally being with Jessica, some crazy incident happens that separates them.
The last time was the closest they’ve ever been when Morty invited Jessica over and even kissed her. Only for it to end up with Jessica being captured by a vengeful society that moved solely in pursuit of killing Morty. Jessica finds herself trapped in time and after being rescued, the experience completely changes her. Now having a new perspective on existence and believing herself to be the “god of time”, she asks Morty to just be friends. Can these two ever rekindle their fleeting romance? Or will things go in the other direction and they will just stay friends and maybe team up for adventures?
Bird
Rick’s best friend, BirdPerson, is finally back to his “normal” self after being betrayed and killed by his lover, Tammy. Taking a deep dive into his mind, Rick helps BirdPerson deal with the loss of his love and helps him discover that he has a baby somewhere. When BirdPerson wakes up, he goes in search of his estranged BirdDaughter.
BirdPerson is Rick’s closest person outside of the family and has been with him since the early days of Rick’s adventures. He is one of the few people that Rick seems to respect and will go to any lengths to help him. Their friendship is complicated. One that gives a lot of interesting stories throughout the show. It will be interesting to see how BirdPerson becomes a father and what crazy pranks they and Rick get into in the future.
Evil Morty
Evil Morty has been a driving antagonistic force ever since he first appeared in the first season. Appearing here and there over the course of the seasons, gradually gaining more and more power in his quest to get revenge on “Craziest Rick”. This scheming, manipulative Morty is unlike any other Morty, showing signs of heightened intelligence and a distinct lack of empathy.
Evil Morty is only equal to Rick when compared to every other character in the series. Constantly getting the better of the old scholar at every turn. Evil Morty is always on the run, most recently after he destroyed the Citadel and all of Rick’s portal technology, leaving Rick powerless for the first time. While Evil Morty still has his own portal gun, where did Evil Morty go? What is his next plan against Rick? And how will Rick get his portal technology back?
