Lighting Minions: Rise of Gru once again witnessed strong domestic box office performance, grossing $4.9 million on a three-day North American weekend estimate.
Last in Despicable Me The franchise continues to exceed expectations. The film was shown in 3,068 theaters in North America, bringing in an average of $1,597.13 per theater. This will be the seventh week Minions: Rise of Gruwhere it finished 6th at the box office, topped by new Brad Pitt- main fighter High-speed train on the second weekend since debut. That $4.9 million is a slight drop from the $7.109 million it grossed last weekend, meaning the film is down 31% every week. Minions: Rise of Gru earned $1.40 million on Friday and was even higher on Saturday at an impressive $2.06 million. Sunday earnings returned closer to Friday earnings, although they were slightly higher at $1.44 million. This big domestic screening just continues the success the film has had in North America as it has already become the first animated film to top $300 million during the pandemic era.
Income this weekend for Minions: Rise of Gru brought domestic cumulative income from the animated film to $343.710 million, placing it just above the first minions the film at the same stage of its theatrical run ($320.084 million). Over the weekend, the international total increased to $446.7 million. Together, these two amounts contribute to the total global income. Minions: Rise of Gru just below that $800 million milestone, at $790.4 million, since its July 1 debut.
