For six months, employees of one of Deloitte’s departments have been testing various options for reducing the work week. The company wants to find the best solution and is looking for a way to optimize working hours.

Deloitte’s tax advisory department launched a pilot program to reduce working hours for six months. The company is looking for ways to optimize and is testing various solutions, such as additional days off, a 36-hour work week, or a reduction in the 40-hour work week.

According to the company’s management, reducing the work week can increase productivity and efficiency. A decision on which model will be tested next will be made in the next financial year.

Shortened work week

More and more companies around the world are testing the reduction of working hours. The Portuguese government recently launched a pilot program to reduce working hours to four days a week. It is attended by 50 companies from both the private and public sectors.

– Four of them are large companies employing more than 1,000 people – said the head of the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Protection. In total, the pilot will cover about 20,000 people. employees.

The issue of a four-day working week is also being discussed in Poland. The pilot of this decision - in case of victory in the parliamentary elections - was announced almost a year ago by the leader of the Civic Platform, Donald Tusk. This idea, as polls show, was received positively by the Poles.
