The head of the left-wing club, Krzysztof Gawkowski, accused the current team of being unwilling to admit mistakes and apologize for actions that “destroyed the budget.”
The Tuesday edition of “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 was stormy: the guests of Monika Oleinik were the Deputy Minister of Finance Artur Sobon and the head of the club “Levica” Krzysztof Gawkowski.
Sobon “I’m sorry”
Gawkowski emphasized that “today the Pole’s wallet is poorer,” and high inflation is not only the result of the war, because if it had been like that before the start of the war, inflation in February 2022 would not have been 9 percent. The head of the left-wing club accused the deputy finance minister of wanting the current team to admit mistakes and apologize, for example, for the Polish deal that “destroyed the budget.” These words angered Sobon.
– I’m sorry that we have maintained liquidity and employment, the lowest unemployment in Europe. With Covid help, companies were able to function (…) I’m sorry we helped companies, I’m sorry we helped keep jobs, I’m sorry we’re spending record amounts on armaments to keep Poland safe - said the Deputy Minister of Finance.
No need for sarcasm, mister. Gavkowski commented.
Deputy Minister announced the extension of zero VAT on food
During today’s speech at the KUL Economic Forum, Deputy Minister Sobon said that inflation, the high cost of money, high interest rates and all related restrictions will accompany us for the next 3-4 years. - We expect that within 3-4 years we will return to the inflation target (2.5 percent with a possible deviation of one percentage point up or down - ed.) - Sobon said.
The Deputy Minister also confirmed that the zero rate on food will be extended until the end of the year. He also did not rule out that this will happen next year. – Today, the zero rate on food is a big burden in terms of the state budget. I can say that not only will she stay until the end of the year (…), but maybe she will stay with us longer Sobon said.
