The first Polish space mission will soon fly to the moon. The President of the Polish Space Agency POLSA has revealed additional details of the project’s ambitious historical plan. We are talking about the placement of the probe, and then the lunar rover.
President of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA) prof. Grzegorz Wrochna confirmed the advanced work on the Polish space mission to the Moon. Within the framework of the Impact’23 conference in Poznań, the specialist shared the latest achievements of the historical and scientific project.
Polish space mission to the moon - first a probe, then a landing
- We have come to the conclusion that the time has come to build a Polish space mission, because if we gather the competencies of our institutes, universities and commercial companies, we might be tempted to build a probe that will fly into space. We asked our scientists, our engineers, how they imagine such a research mission, and received a great and enthusiastic answer. - convinces Vrochna in an interview with PAP journalists.
The head of POLSA added that the agency received many proposals for the mission, and most of them concerned the moon. It is not surprising, because recently the Silver Globe has attracted great interest from world space agencies and even private companies.
Moreover, work on the Polish lunar probe is not only carried out on paper. Vrochna emphasized that the project is at an advanced stage and testing of prototype devices is already underway.
The Polish satellite will study the lunar surface using infrared radiation. This type of exploration is especially useful for discovering resource deposits that will eventually be used to build permanent bases on the surface of the Silver Ball.
Polish rover on the moon - will collect samples
Vrochna also announced even more ambitious plans for the Poles. Assuming the success of the orbiter, the next step would be to land a specially trained rover on the moon.
- We are already thinking very seriously about a technical mission to the Moon, where we will send a space rover with the ability to take samples, with advanced controls that provide greater autonomy. - announced the head of POLSA.
According to the professor, such a landing can take place within 5-6 years, that is, by 2029.
