Joint procurement of ammunition for Ukraine. Poland beneficiary
According to the correspondent of the Polish Radio in Brussels, Beata Plometskaya, joint tenders will be organized by the European Defense Agency. Scans of documents signed by the Ministry of Defense were sent to the agency.
As the Information Radio Agency notes, Poland will be one of the main beneficiaries of the program, since among the key manufacturers of ammunition that Ukraine needs now are the Polish factories Dezamet, which are part of the Polish Armaments Group. Thierry Breton, European Commissioner for Industry, will visit them next week.
On Monday, a joint procurement agreement was signed by 17 EU countries and Norway. Poland, as the diplomats explained, had to finalize national procedures.
The EU will allocate two billion euros from the European Peace Fund for an ammunition supply plan and joint purchases. One billion will be allocated to countries that will now supply Ukraine with missiles from their stockpiles, and another billion will be directed to group purchases.
