The Prime Minister summed up the results of the winter. “We managed to get through unscathed”

One of the most difficult winters in recent history is coming to an end - and it was difficult not because of weather conditions, but because of the consequences of political decisions. “It happened because Putin threw tanks into Ukraine and declared an energy war on Europe,” Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“One of the most difficult winters we managed to get through unscathed is in the past. It could have been much more difficult if not for the actions of our government, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at the “We Defend Poles” conference.

Everyone was afraid of the end of winter

The date of the conference is not accidental - winter ended yesterday, which, due to the refusal to purchase Russian raw materials, turned out to be especially difficult for recipients of heat and energy - residents of individual houses, tenants of apartment buildings, and entrepreneurs.

“This happened not because of difficult weather conditions, but because Vladimir Putin threw tanks into Ukraine and declared an energy war on Europe,” the prime minister added. - He knew that without energy resources it is easy to lead to complete chaos. Some of them wanted to base their policies on this intention. He added that some of the media and the opposition acted out Putin’s fear in such an “exit” performance.

Morawiecki on inflation

He also mentioned the morning meeting with the heads of governments of other EU countries.

“The Prime Minister of Latvia told me that they understand that high inflation is the work of Putin’s energy policy. So why is it that the opposition and the media (in Poland) separate these two threads and try to show that these are two divergent worlds and that there is no point in linking the war with inflation, Morawiecki asks.

PM sums up results of subsidies and anti-inflation programs

The prime minister stressed that, despite pressure from various sides, his cabinet does not refuse to implement various kinds of decisions designed to support the Poles in the difficult winter months.

“Millions of Polish families took advantage of subsidies last year, they are still using subsidies from the Polish budget to make the high Russian inflation that we are dealing with at least a little less painful. Because this is our trademark, when things are very bad around us, when one crisis follows another crisis, we act. We do not pretend that there is no crisis around us,” he said.
