“I have known Mr. Kursky for many years. He understands finance and economics better than some of the experts commenting on the topic, NBP President Adam Glapinski said. In his opinion, Kursky could “take a much higher position.”
After an hour-long speech in which the president of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapinski, explained the reasons why the Monetary Policy Council left interest rates unchanged the day before, it was time for questions from journalists. Among the inquiries about loan holidays and projected inflation was the appointment of Jacek Kurski to the World Bank.
Glapinski couldn’t praise Kursky enough
The former head of TVP will become deputy executive director of the Polish-Swiss constituent assembly. Kursky will earn up to a million zlotys a year in a new position.
The host of the conference reacted immediately and said that journalists’ questions can only concern the topic of the conference. Nevertheless, Adam Glapinski decided to share his thoughts. He recalled that the NBP has already made public its official position on this matter, but he himself considers the election of Jacek Kursky a good decision.
– Of course, Mr. Jacek Kurski by a huge margin meets all the requirements for persons representing the Polish financial world in international organizations. According to him, he could occupy a much higher position, he meets all the criteria.
Glapinski urged that Kursky’s resume be compared with that of other World Bank staff, primarily directors, who will be joined by the former head of TVP.
“I have known Mr. Kursky for many years, he has participated in many economic discussions in recent years, he knows finance and economics better than some experts who, I won’t say at which station, speak and throw different lightning bolts,” praised the head of the NBP .

Glapinsky was also surprised by the fact that he noticed a drop in food prices. How did he come to this?
