The 49-year-old courier has been found dead while driving his van in the UK. He probably died from overwork: due to the approaching Black Friday, he worked up to 14 hours a day, seven days a week.

Warren Norton’s colleagues were surprised to see that his car was parked at the depot, but he himself did not get out of it. They thought he was asleep, so they knocked on the window to wake him up. When the man didn’t answer, they broke the window. The body of a 49-year-old man fell out of the car. Rescue work was undertaken immediately, but it was too late.

Colleagues from the courier company DPD suspect that he died from overwork. They admit that the company expects them to work more than 8 hours a day, and the closer to the “holiday of commerce”, that is, to Black Friday, the more work was. The matter is not facilitated by the fact that couriers are not full-time employees, but are engaged in business, so their remuneration depends on the number of parcels delivered.

British media have established that Warren Norton has been working for DPD since 2020. He traveled six or seven days a week, starting work at 6 am and finishing around 8 pm.
