Gazprom will turn off Nord Stream 1. Germany comments

Must read

In a week, Gazprom will once again suspend gas supplies via Nord Stream 1 to Germany. The official reason is “conversational work”. This is unfounded and incomprehensible, - the German side comments.

At the end of last week, Gazprom announced that from August 31 to September 2 this year. gas supplies via Nord Stream 1 will be suspended. However, the Russian company assures that deliveries will resume from September 3, and the reason for the break is “negotiation work”. According to the German Federal Network Agency, the service work on the pipeline announced by the company is unfounded. - This interruption in supplies is also technically incomprehensible to us says Klaus Müller, president of the Federal Network Agency, quoted by dw.com.

According to Muller, previous translations about the Siemens Energy turbine were a pretext, and, as experience shows, Russia “after each so-called. service has made a political decision.” - Whether Russia will do it again, we will know only at the beginning of September Mueller said, adding that he knew about it, “probably only the President of Russia.”

From August 31 to September 2, service work will be carried out at the only operating turbine of the Portovaya compressor station near Vyborg. Later, 33 million cubic meters of natural gas per day will again flow through the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline. This, according to Dw.com, is about 20 percent. the daily maximum possible amount of raw materials, which Russia already reduced a few weeks ago.

Will Germany run out of gas?

The site cites the opinion of German experts, according to which Germany will not be able to fill all of its gas storage facilities to 95 percent by November, as previously planned. This opinion is shared by Thorsten Frank, director of the union of gas trading companies Trading Hub Europe (THE). According to warehouse operators, their gas refueling level on Tuesday, August 23, averaged 80 percent, and should be 85 percent by October. However, not all warehouses have reached this level (the tank in Rehden is just over 60% full). - By November, we will be able to fill many warehouses up to 95 percent, but not all Frank reported this to the Rheinische Post.

THE director does not expect Germany to run out of gas. Alternatively, he said, it cannot be ruled out that there could be shortages in some regions. However, Frank emphasizes that the shortcomings will not affect private households.
