Hell is frozen, but like never before. The luxury car in Germany was… Kia

Must read

Already a year ago, the Koreans played a joke on the Germans. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was the car of the year in Germany. This time, the manufacturer’s subsidiary brand hit even harder. Germany’s luxury car of the year is… Kia.

Something is starting to happen… strange. Recall that Germany is a country where such cars are sold as:

  • Mercedes-Benz S-Class

  • Mercedes-Maybach GLS

  • Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

  • Porsche Panamera in different versions

  • Porsche 911

  • Audi A8 including S8

  • Audi SQ8

  • BMW XM

  • BMW 7 Series

  • and a few others whose prices far exceed PLN 1 million.

And it was in Germany that the new electric Kia EV9 won the title of luxury car of 2024. To say that this is trivial is to say nothing.

The Koreans defeated the Germans

As we read in Kia’s announcement, “After making its debut in the five-meter class, Kia immediately won recognition from the 27-member jury of the ‘Car of the Year 2024’ in Germany.” The three-row electric SUV was voted the best car in the luxury car category, with prices starting at $70,000 in Germany. euro up The Kia EV9 outperformed eight other models in this year’s competition.

The Greatest Electrician

Recall that Kia EV9 is the second model of a new generation of electric vehicles, which is larger than EV6 – the holder of the European Car of the Year 2022 title. EV9 will be available for order in Poland at the end of September. And the first copies will be delivered to customers this year.

EV9, like EV6, is built on E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) and supports 800V ultra-fast charging technology.

Two types of drives

The electric SUV is available with a choice of rear-wheel drive and a 150kW engine (range up to 541km WLTP) or all-wheel drive. Then the Kia EV9 is driven by two electric motors with a capacity of 141 kW each and provides a range of 497 km (according to WLTP). An AWD version is also available in the sporty GT-Line version, which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h.
