Police from Tarnobrzeg (Podkarpackie Voivodeship) wanted to punish the driver for illegal parking. However, instead of agreeing to a fine of 100 zlotys, he offered the police another solution.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 18, at 18.00 in Tarnobrzeg. Traffic police officers from the “Speed” squad are on duty in the city, at the address: st. Mickiewicz noticed that the crossing was blocked by a Volkswagen Passat. It turned out that the driver was not in the car because he had gone shopping.
He could have agreed to a fine of 100 zlotys and it would have been all over.
When he returned, the police wanted to fine him 100 zlotys and 1 penalty point for the offense he had committed. The driver of the Passat, a 57-year-old resident of Sandomierz, heard this, took out two cans of beer and threw them into the police car through the open door.
“The 57-year-old Volkswagen driver, wanting to avoid consequences for an offense, tried to bribe the police by putting two cans of beer in the police car. Instead of a ticket, the man was given a police camera.” – report this to the police at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Tarnobrzeg.
These days are long gone
The officers did not tolerate such behavior and responded with determination. 57 people were immediately detained and police charged him with providing financial benefits in exchange for abandoning official duties. As incredible as it may seem, putting two cans of beer in a police car was a crime.
“Where a person who has committed an act under Article 1 acts to induce a person performing a public function to violate the provisions of the law, or provides or promises to provide such person with material or personal benefit for violating the provisions of the law, he or she shall be punished by imprisonment imprisonment for a term of one to 10 years.” – art. 229 § 3 of the Criminal Code.
The Passat driver was arrested for his behavior. The police questioned him and charged him, to which he admitted. Now the court will decide the future fate of the 57-year-old man.
