Some time ago, Henryk Kasperczak was in a serious accident. The 77-year-old man broke his leg and ribs and had to undergo surgery. The legendary coach is now undergoing rehabilitation and spoke about how he feels and what has changed after this dramatic event.
In June 2023, Henryk Kasperczak was involved in an accident while mowing his lawn, resulting in broken ribs and a femur. The legendary coach fell six meters down a hill and was found injured just an hour after the incident by passing tourists. An operation was required, after which the 77-year-old man had to use a wheelchair for some time.
Henryk Kasperczak spoke about his state of health
Now the former coach, in particular Tunisia, with whom he became vice-champion of the African Cup of Nations, spoke to WP SportoweFakty about the state of his health. Henryk Kasperczak assured that everything has improved. “Then I was broken and sick. I broke a hip bone, a rib. In addition, the left side of the body was full of bruises. At night everything hurt a lot and at first I couldn’t sleep completely,” he said.
– I came home from the hospital, but I’m going to the clinic for treatment. At first a driver came to pick me up, but now I drive the car myself. “I am undergoing rehabilitation, I still have to improve the condition of my leg,” he added.
Henryk Kasperczak: It’s better now
The former coach admitted that in July he could not put his left foot on the floor and could not move independently. The 77-year-old man was able to get around using an electric wheelchair. Fortunately, a few months after the accident there was noticeable improvement. “I can move my leg, which has left my walker and wheelchair behind.” I don’t use crutches either. You could say I walk normally, but slowly. “I have to be careful not to fall,” he continued.
“The ribs are fine now, the pain has gone away.” I can go up and down stairs, but for now I need a safety net. “I’m holding on to the railing,” he concluded.
