On October 30, road workers begin repair work on the A1 highway. Drivers traveling on the A1 will face serious difficulties due to the painted stripes. We know the work schedule and the list of alternative routes.
From Monday, October 30, difficulties await those traveling on the A1 motorway towards Gdańsk. In the section between the Lodz-Vskhod and Lodz-Polnoc interchanges, road workers will update the horizontal road markings. Repair work will last at least two weeks.
Passability of A1 will remain
The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways reports that the first stage of striping work will begin on a 14-kilometer section towards Gdańsk between the Łódź-Wród and Łódź-Połnoc junctions. To maintain passability during road repairs, work will be carried out once on the right and once on the left side of the road.
On All Saints’ Day there is a break from work
Lanes on the A1 motorway will be painted from 8:00 to 16:00. Work on the eastern road is scheduled until November 7, excluding October 31 and November 1. Road engineers note that this period may be extended in case of bad weather conditions.
Alternative detours to the A1 north
To make it easier for drivers to travel during repairs, GDDKiA suggests using alternative routes. Those traveling along the A1 highway from Wroclaw towards Warsaw can choose one of two options. In the first case, at the Roza intersection (S8/S14), they can join the S14 expressway and, having reached the Emilia intersection, enter the A2 motorway to continue their journey to the capital (or Gdańsk). The second alternative route requires exiting at the Łódź-Poludny junction (S8/A1) and exiting onto the A1 motorway in the direction of Katowice. Upon reaching the Piotrków Trybunalski Zachod junction (A1/S8), drivers should exit onto the S8 expressway and from there go straight to Warsaw.
Travelers traveling on the A1 motorway from Katowice to Poznań can take the S8 motorway towards Wrocław at the Łódź-Połodni junction and then take the S14 motorway at the Róża junction. Having reached the Emilia junction, they should take the A2 motorway in the direction of Poznań.
From November 6, the western road A1 will be reconstructed.
After completion of work on the A1 motorway in the direction of Gdańsk, road workers will move to the other side of the road, towards Katowice. The reconstruction will take place in the same area, between the Łódź Połnoc and Łódź Vschod interchanges. Work is due to begin on November 6 and be completed mid-month. If the weather changes in the meantime and rain falls, the date will be changed.
Alternative detours to the A1 south
For people traveling on the A1 motorway, between the Łódź-Północ and Łódź-Wszód junctions, in a southerly direction, road workers have also prepared alternative routes. Those traveling from Poznań (A2) towards Katowice (A1) can exit the A2 motorway at the Emilia junction onto the S14 expressway and reach the Ruza junction. Next, take the S8 road towards Warsaw and, upon reaching the Łódź-Południ junction, turn onto the A1 motorway.
In turn, those traveling from Warsaw towards Silesia should take the S8 expressway in the direction of Warsaw – Piotrkow Trybunalski, and then the A1 motorway in the direction of Katowice. An alternative is to take the A2 motorway to the Emilia junction and the S14 and S8 to the Łódź Połnoc junction. This alternative route will extend the journey from Warsaw to Katowice by approximately 50 kilometers.
