Hyundai Motorsport will enter the 2023 World Rally Championship with three cars and a four-team team led by drivers Thierry Neuville, Esapekka Lappi, Dani Sordo and Craig Breen.

Hyundai Motorsport has revealed the roster for the 2023 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), which will feature both new and returning faces. The selected teams will take part in the tenth season of Hyundai’s top level rally. The already confirmed Thierry Neuville will be joined by Finnish driver Esapekka Lappi for the whole season. He is the winner of the 2017 Rally Finland, having finished on the podium three times in the 2022 season, only participating in selected events: he finished third on snow in Sweden, on gravel in Finland and on tarmac in Ypres.

Experienced Spaniard Dani Sordo and Irishman Craig Breen will be racing in the third Hyundai i20 N Rally1. Sordo has been with the Hyundai Motorsport team since the first season of the WRC and has played a key role in its development. Meanwhile, Brin previously drove for the Hyundai team, finishing on the podium four times between 2019 and 2021.

Proud drivers

“We can be in good spirits and motivated as we look to 2023 knowing that we have a strong and experienced team. Esapekka will be a great addition to our team and I’m sure he will bring fresh energy from the start of the new season. It’s also nice that Craig is back to share a third car with Dani. It’s a good mix of familiar faces and fresh blood that will certainly give us momentum in the new season. The teamwork ethic is a truly important value at Hyundai Motorsport and everyone in the company is working towards our goals; Having seen the new squad, we are optimistic about the new World Cup season, - said Thierry Neuville.

- Life is full of surprises! Getting the chance to join Hyundai Motorsport and compete in the full WRC calendar was something we didn’t expect. This is truly a dream come true and a unique opportunity,” said Esapekka Lappi. Dani Sordo added: “The decision to re-sign with Hyundai Motorsport was clear and easy for me, and in ten years the team has become like family to me. This is my team and I belong to it.
